Upon leaving university, on top of (hopefully) working commonly, I will try to find funding through directing music videos for bands. Of course, this is a big aim, especially at this stage, but with connections to the right local people, I think that it's definitely a possibility.
I think that as of late there has been a surge in the amount of music videos popping up from independent bands. This is promising for someone in my position, and is somewhat encouraging for someone who aims to do this sort of thing.
However, one of my favourite music videos which I think is a masterpiece (as is the song), is Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, directed by Howard Greenhalgh.
I think that this is one of the most talked about music videos I've ever seen on YouTube. Rather than comments about the song itself, I'd say 90% are in admiration for the music video.
I particularly like how everyday tasks such as mowing the lawn, and brushing your hair are warped enough for them to be almost sickening.
I have recently posted several adverts on the internet asking if any bands are interested in having a video directed, and I am currently in contact with a few people.
